Gonia

Gonia is the founding mother of the state of Cartica. She is the daughter of King Netzer Alissa. She was the Minister of Finance under her father and later under her brother, his successor.

On the anniversary of Becornezer’s reign, his brother (and the brother of Gonia), Norian, the minister of the army, rebelled against him and deposed him.

Becornezer and the families of his supporters who survived the war surrendered and were exiled to the island of Corposum. Gonia was exiled to the island of Cartica. Her supporters, the inhabitants of the old city of Dovira, were also exiled there, as punishment for hiding and guarding her.

The exiles arrived on the island sad and despondent at having been uprooted from their land and unable to return. In addition to sadness and despair, there was also great anxiety in their hearts, for having broken Oclipa’s oath (to never leave Ealios).

Gonya calmed and encouraged them, she asked them to pray for Oclipa’s mercy. Then she reminded them of the rules of conduct that were practiced in their homeland (The Oclipa Orders). In addition, she ordered them not to harm the Korfa, an indigenous minority living in the northern part of the island.

On the banks of the Yurasamber River, she founded a village and named it Dovira after the ruined city from which her people were expelled.

Like her father, Gonia was faithful to the instructions of the merciful Oclipa (The Oclipa Orders) and, like him, she loved her people. Her kingdom grew and prospered rapidly, her people knew neither famine nor plague.
