The Pelians are the farmers of Cartica. They cultivate the land and produce crops from it. Their working methods are closely linked to their beliefs. To an outsider, the working methods of the Paleans would seem puzzling. They are animists (according to Edward Taylor’s definitions). They believe that everything in the universe has a soul. And that all things communicate with each other through sounds or music. Their mentor is Tidop Almoyan.
The average rainfall in Karnataka is not high (less than 300 mm per year). In the Great Plains, where most of the agricultural land is located, rainfall is lower, while in the mountainous regions, it is higher than average. All the rain falls in winter. The rainwater is collected and used in the summer to irrigate the various crops.
To increase rainfall, the Pelians employ various methods, including cloud seeding, prayer, and music.
